Housing Families Inc., founded in 1986 by community members concerned about the growing crisis of homelessness, helps families make the transition out of homelessness to successfully retain permanent housing. Today, Housing Families is one of the largest and most capable providers of shelter and affordable rental housing in Massachusetts.
We provide safe, temporary shelter and quality affordable housing to homeless and at-risk families and individuals. We offer individualized supportive services to enrich children’s lives, nurture the potential of each individual, family member, and help families maintain permanent housing.
Housing Families is committed to the journey of becoming a more equitable and antiracist organization. We know that we cannot achieve a world with housing equity and wellbeing for all without addressing systemic racism and the oppressive systems that cause disproportionate homelessness and a lack of housing security for people of color and other marginalized communities such as those with disabilities and LGBTQIA+ folks. Housing Families seeks to build a greater understanding of racial and social justice, continuously working internally to create more equitable policies and cultural norms.
