Description

I. Purpose & Summary of Position

The Family Violence Services (FVS) Coordinator works on the Family Violence Services Sub-Team of the Support to Service Providers unit within TCFV, reporting to the Family Violence Services Manager. The FVS Coordinator focuses on building relationships and developing resources that enhance and support capacity building and technical assistance for Family Violence Centers and Battering Intervention and Prevention Programs (BIPPs). This role coordinates and facilitates training series and events, provides consultations and technical assistance to family violence programs, contributes to planning large scale conferences, and leads specialized projects. In addition, the FVS Coordinator audits BIP Programs to ensure compliance with state guideline minimum standards as outlined by funders (TDCJ-CJAD) and reviews programmatic delivery for best practices in accordance with research and grant funder operational updates.

II. Priority Functions and Accountabilities:

Technical Assistance and Consultation– 35%

  • Provides technical assistance and consultation to family violence centers and BIPP providers with a focus on supporting program capacity building and promoting best practices in trauma informed survivor centered services and utilizing effective battering intervention and racial justice principles. Technical assistance and consultation services are typically conducted onsite, or may be remotely facilitated utilizing virtual platforms as determined by the needs of the program and agreed upon by the funder and manager.
  • Responds to technical assistance and consultation requests as needed and/or requested by family violence centers and BIPP providers, and/or the funder.
  • Coordinates, develops, and facilitates customized technical assistance and consultation opportunities as needed and/or requested by family violence centers and BIPP providers, and/or the funder.
  • Facilitates One In The Movement (OIM) calls with family violence centers; maintains and regularly posts on OIM listserv.
  • Facilitates BIPP calls with funded and non-funded BIPPs in Texas; maintains and regularly posts BIPP list serv.
  • Reviews and approves TDCJ-CJAD BIPP Training as sent in by BIPPs in a timely and supportive manner.
  • In coordination with the FVS Manager, develops, coordinates and promotes technical assistance resource materials, publications, toolkits, and web content, as needed. Ensures resource materials encompass the latest research and current best practices on a state and national level in the fields of survivor-centered services and battering intervention for family violence centers, BIPP providers, and other allied professionals.
  • Survivor and General Public Technical Assistance:
    • Responds to and provides technical assistance to victims of family violence in a compassionate, supportive, and timely manner.
    • Provides information and referrals to connect victims of family violence to family violence shelter and non-residential centers, crime victims’ services, and/or other agency resources, such as the National Domestic Violence Hotline, for crisis intervention.
    • Responds to and provides technical assistance to allied professionals serving victims of family violence, and community members interested in serving victims of family violence in a supportive and timely manner.

Training Development and Coordination – 25%

  • Coordinates, develops and training events, i.e., One In The Movement (OIM) Series, Recentered, and other issues relating to enhancing survivor-centered advocacy skills for family violence center staff.
  • Coordinates, develops, and offers the BIPP Education Series and training events on issues relating to battering intervention with a focus on supporting BIPP providers in obtaining approved training hours.
  • Coordinates, develops, and maintains pre-recorded training webinar content on issues relating to enhancing survivor-centered advocacy skills for family violence center staff and for BIPP.
  • Coordinates, develops, and facilitates customized training opportunities for local and regional family violence centers and BIPP providers as needed and/or requested by the center or the funder.
  • Contributes to team efforts in the coordination and development of the BIPP Conference, Statewide Conference and other training events as needed.
  • External training is typically conducted onsite, or may be remotely facilitated utilizing virtual platforms as determined by the needs of the program and agreed upon by the funder and manager.

Audit State-Funded Battering Intervention Programs – 25%

  • Develops and demonstrates knowledge on the current state guidelines, offender accountability models and curricula, strategies for holding offenders accountable, and an understanding of how BIPPs contribute to victim safety.
  • Evaluates funded programs’ compliance with state guidelines by conducting a thorough desk audit of program files and documentation.
  • Evaluates funded programs’ group sessions by monitoring groups to ensure a program’s adherence to the state guidelines as it applies to group facilitation and to provide best practice recommendations.
  • Prepares a report to thoroughly outline a program’s overall adherence to state guidelines in a fair and consistent manner and ensures the report is completed and submitted to the program and the state in a timely manner.
  • Provides a post-audit conference call as needed and/or requested by the funded program.
  • Contributes to team efforts in the development and enhancement of audit materials and processes.
  • State-funded BIPP audits are conducted onsite or remotely utilizing virtual platforms as determined by the needs of the program and agreed upon by the funder and manager.

Administrative/Team Contributions 15%

  • Ensures timely and accurate reporting of grant activities, including contributing information for the agency’s funding applications.
  • Ensures timely and accurate submission of evaluations, reports, and timekeeping documentation for accurate allocation, as well as other documentation as requested by the manager.
  • Actively participates in team efforts in the development of project work planning and allocation, as well as team efforts to deepen our practices of relationship building, learning, and leadership development.

Salary Range: 50,939-55,016

III. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements

  • Texas residency required. This role is a hybrid remote job and requires in-office responsibilities on a periodic basis.
  • Hybrid staff are also expected to travel and attend in person activities associated with their job descriptions and duties. Outside of these expectations, hybrid staff work remotely within the state of Texas.
  • Critical analytical skills to understand the political, social, financial and external issues affecting service providers; ability to foresee and interpret trends and the dynamic changing needs of TCFV members and to develop processes and resources to respond effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Thorough knowledge of domestic violence issues and circumstances faced by those experiencing domestic violence including crisis counseling, hotline skills, peer counseling, survivor safety, trauma centered empowered based advocacy.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience (three preferred) in domestic violence programs, which includes providing direct services to survivors and preferably knowledge of BIPP.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or any combination of related education and/or experience with a documented record of the ability to perform duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and demonstrated ability to learn new software as needed.
  • Thorough knowledge of the perpetration of power and control oppression and violence, or the commitment to learn the content.
  • Communication skills that analyze for audience and purpose, are suitable for presentation and written publication, and strong presentation skills and public speaking abilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to elicit commitment to and advancement of TCFV’s mission and vision both internally and externally, and to respond diplomatically to challenging issues.
  • Strong ability to give and receive feedback with openness and respect.
  • Strong team building, leadership and project coordination skills to effectively guide statewide responses to changing environments.
  • Self-starter, energetic, able to work independently, enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives, and thrives in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under tight and/or changing timelines with adaptability, flexibility, and attention to detail.
  • Strong time management skills to coordinate and prioritize own and others’ activities, evaluate progress, and to allocate resources to complete activities with set deadlines.
  • Ability to travel in congruence with TCFV’s staff travel policy to multiple locations across the state to provide onsite programmatic audits, training, and technical assistance and consultation to family violence centers and BIP programs.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish language skills preferred, but not required.

IV. Working Conditions and Environmental and Physical Demands

  • Ability to communicate and converse in English. Travel up to 25%. Ability to frequently tolerate prolonged stationary positions and frequently move about a large public building. Ability to engage in frequent public contact. Professional attire may be required for most public-facing work. Ability to work in an office-setting, and a remote location. Must possess the emotional and physical stamina to deal with a variety of high- pressure situations, such as: responding to complaints, handling difficult internal and external interaction, effectively working long and, at times, odd hours.
