Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant Intern to join our team this summer. This internship is an excellent opportunity for students interested in exploring a career in law to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced legal environment. The Legal Assistant Intern will work closely with our legal team, supporting various projects and gaining insight into the daily operations of a law firm/legal department.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in drafting, proofreading, and formatting legal documents and correspondence
- Conduct legal research on relevant cases, statutes, and regulations
- Organize and maintain client files, both digital and physical, ensuring confidentiality
- Support the legal team in preparing case files, exhibits, and evidence for court proceedings
- Attend team meetings, take notes, and assist in action item follow-up
- Assist with administrative tasks, including data entry, filing, and scheduling meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the legal team and gain comprehensive exposure to the legal process
Requirements
- Current undergraduate student or recent graduate, preferably with coursework in pre-law, political science, business, or a related field
- Strong interest in the legal profession and a desire to gain hands-on experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic legal research tools
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship or work experience in a legal, administrative, or office setting is a plus
- Familiarity with legal terminology, procedures, and research databases such as Westlaw or LexisNexis
