POSITION SUMMARY:
The YMCA of Coastal Carolina is a dynamic and rapidly growing association that seeks to strengthen the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Afterschool Site Director is responsible for the oversight of the afterschool program in partnership with the collaborating school(s). The Site Director serves as the primary contact to the school administration and faculty and helps establish the program at the assigned school.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Afterschool Site Director must have the competencies, skills, and proven leadership ability to successfully carry out the YMCA mission, goals, and vision for serving the community. Other important responsibilities include the following:
- Administer the day-to-day operation of the afterschool program, ensuring that all the program components are implemented to required dosage.
- In partnership with the school staff and school liaison, monitor and promote program student recruitment, ensuring optimal enrollment at all times based on the five criteria of need.
- Recruit, hire, train and supervise school liaison, group leaders, tutors, and volunteers.
- Always prepare and monitor staff schedule, modifying it as necessary to maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios.
- Coordinate with the school’s administration, teachers, and other community partnerships to successfully implement the program.
- Facilitate integration of the YMCA afterschool program into the overall school culture in collaboration with school leadership.
- Evaluate program quality and fidelity, implementing necessary steps to remedy weakness according to Y-USA measurement and evaluation guidelines.
- Ensure the following data is reported to Y-USA consistent with the reporting schedule and timelines:
- Test score data
- Attendance data
- Student grades data
- DESSA data
- Other Assist in developing the program annual budget.
- Develop relationships with school and community stakeholders to communicate the goals of the initiative and ongoing concerns about student needs.
- Promote a team concept through a positive approach to supervision, communication with supervisor and appropriate staff at all levels of the YMCA.
- Plan, implement and attend appealing and meaningful programs and events for parents and/or families on a regular basis; provides an ongoing network (formal and informal) of support for program parents.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
