Single/Tandem Axle Truck Driver

Ark Contracting Services LLC headquartered in Kennedale, Texas was established in 2004 and is a specialty construction contractor focused in heavy civil wet ground and infrastructure projects with the North Texas area. The current scope of practice includes but is not limited to gabion structures, concrete structures, shoring systems, earth retention structures, pipelines, earth anchors systems, erosion protection, and dredging disciplines. We are looking for an eager, self-starter with great attention-to-detail, committed to quality and integrity ready to continue his/her career within heavy civil wet ground and infrastructure construction. The ideal candidate would have the ability to leverage his/her professional experience, education, strong interpersonal skills to be an effective team player.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with signal operators to safely perform job tasks on job sites

  • Check vehicle to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good operating order

  • Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate

  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles

  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks such as adding oil, fuel, and radiator fluid, or performing minor repairs.

  • Drive vehicle safely to transport and deliver the product, following applicable state and federal regulations.

  • Maintain logs of operating hours and delivery of the product, following applicable state and federal regulations.

  • Check vehicle to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good operating order.

  • Operates trucks of various sizes and weights to facilitate the movement of company equipment and vehicles

  • Understand proper tie-down techniques to ensure loads are secured

  • Maneuver vehicle into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.

  • Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not mandatory

  • Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbal

  • Ability to use software base management systems to login in time and attendance as well as pertinent information regarding tools and job site equipment

  • Committed to safety and attends regular on the job training with Foreman, Superintendent, Project Manager, and Safety Officer

  • Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with field and office personnel

  • Must be committed to contributing to a culture of safety, looking out for yourself and others

  • CDL is required, Class A minimum\

  • Clean driving and drug history

Physical Requirements:

  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.

  • Work long shifts

  • Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.

  • Must have good hand-eye coordination, quick reaction times.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs.

  • Able to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and safety-toed boots.

  • Able to walk moderate distances to reach work area up to 1/2 mile

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards

  • Able to pass a pre-employment background check to work on a government project.

  • Climb in and out of vehicle cab frequently throughout the day

  • Climb ladders or stairs to inspect loads, ensuring that the product is accurate and the vehicle is clean.
