Description

Position Summary:  This position is responsible for training, assisting and supporting clinical staff in the use of the Electonic Health Record (EHR) as it pertains to patient care and data collection.  High level knowledge of the Electronic Health Record (athenaOne) is to be used with creative thinking and teaching skills to work with providers, residents and staff to identify best application of currently available software to achieve both quality and efficiency in patient care. The position requires the ability to foster and maintain positive and close working relationships with providers and clinical staff in all departments, as well as provide ongoing updates, training, and feedback to clinical staff regarding best use of the EHR.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Works with providers, residents, managers, nurses, trainers and support staff to assess and recommend clinical workflow changes for increased operational consistency and efficiency.
  • Works with Director of Clinical Informatics (DCI) on customization and configuration of EHR clinical modules for increased efficiency of clinicians’ time and improvement in quality of patient care with input from the EMR work group.
  • Assists DCI in orientation of new staff members including training, updating and assuring basic clinical competencies with the EHR.  Provides IT support on site to employees when possible.
  • Maintains materials for users of clinical information systems and can help troubleshoot system issues.
  • Assists with group and individual training sessions.
    1. Prepares training plans / schedules.
    2. Helps train and support Super Users as necessary to maintain ongoing ability to actively support end-users.
  • Maintains materials for users of clinical information systems and can help troubleshoot system issues.
  • Enters and maintains provider schedules in EHR       
  • Demonstrates good communication skills and interpersonal working relationships
  • Participates in Health Center meetings as requested.
  • Travels to other clinics to assist with training as needed.
  • Other activities and projects as assigned.

  • Ability to think logically to troubleshoot, analyze situations, and make appropriate and informed decisions.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail systems, and web-based programs.
  • Knowledge of current medical terminology to perform various tests and procedures, complete medical record documentation, and communicate with providers, staff and patients. 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Medical Certification or Licensure (MA, LPN, RN, etc) required.
  • Two-year’s prior experience in use of EHR and no less than two-years working in a clinical setting providing patient care
