Position Summary
The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data infrastructure at Texas Tech CU. This role involves developing and managing data pipelines, ensuring smooth data integration across platforms, and supporting the credit union’s business intelligence and analytics efforts. The Data Engineer will also play a critical role in data governance and system organization. This position reports directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and supports the CIO in ensuring data systems are aligned with the credit union’s strategic goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources into our data warehouse. Ensure that data is processed efficiently and accurately to meet business needs.
- Manage and optimize our cloud-based data warehouse, ensuring the storage and retrieval of data is efficient and scalable. Implement best practices for data modeling, performance tuning, and security.
- Utilize integration tools to orchestrate and automate data flows between systems, ensuring timely and accurate data delivery. Work closely with various teams to integrate new data sources and support ongoing data management initiatives.
- Design and implement API-driven integrations and web services that facilitate data movement and transformation across platforms.
- Ensure that data and system governance standards are strictly adhered to, maintaining the highest level of data integrity and security. Maintain meticulous records and documentation for all data processes.
- Develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries for data retrieval, transformation, and analysis. Ensure that queries are efficient and capable of handling large datasets.
- Support the business intelligence team by ensuring that data is readily available and in the correct format for visualization tools.
- Collaborate on ETL processes to prepare data for analysis and reporting.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, data analysts, and business stakeholders, to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business objectives.
