Job Summary:

The Associate General Counsel is responsible for legal assignments from the Chief Legal Officer in researching and drafting of legal agreements and assisting senior leadership with legal advice.  The Associate General Counsel will also provide guidance to senior leaders on administrative and regulatory issues including Anti-Kickback, Stark, Safe Harbor, lease and affiliation agreements, HIPAA, and other general legal guidance.

Essential Duties:

  • Drafts legal agreements as assigned by CLO.
  • Provides health provider guidance in the areas of administrative and regulatory issues to leadership teams, executives, and staff.
  • Performs educational activities related to fraud and abuse, referral ban regulations and other provider behavior directed legislation.
  • Reviews and drafts internal documents for compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  • Provides guidance on lease agreements/terminations, affiliation agreements and general review of marketing and advertisement language.
  • Review other general employment agreements, EEO agency charges and handbook/policy review.
  • Maintains records regarding contracts and other documents.
  • Represents RI in hearings, depositions and other legal matters.
  • Oversees and approves use of outside counsel to represent RI on a case by case basis.
  • Reviews leases and works collaboratively with outside counsel as assigned.
  • Assists CLO with maintaining corporate records, minutes and resolutions.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate Degree : J.D.
  • Licensed to practice law in PA and/or NJ
  • 5 Years experience in the healthcare industry including affiliation agreements, review of provider contracts and other transactions as an attorney, including Anti-Kick back, Stark, EMTALA, CMP, HIPAA, and tax exempt law and regulations
  • Healthcare regulations and law knowledge required
  • Analytical Skills, Communication Skills, Strong Interpersonal Skills, Strong Writing /Editing skills, General Computer Skills
