Klickitat Valley Health Family Medicine is now accepting applications for a Physician to join our Family Medicine team. The Physician will provide primary care coverage for four days. The Family Medicine Clinic has 4 Physicians and 10 mid level providers, a Medical Director, Clinical Manager and Office Support Manager. Volumes are 14-17 per day. The clinic also offers Express Care, Pain Management, Behavioral Health, Dental, Optometry and Diabetes services. General Surgery and Orthopedics available. Podiatry, Cardiology, Dermatology, and Pulmonology specialists are regularly available as visiting physicians through our Specialty Clinic. Each FM provider has dedicated support staff including an MA and virtual scribe.  The EMR is Meditech Expanse and providers are supported by a Clinical Informatics RN. Patient volume is 14-17/day no call/OB.

General Summary:

The Physician is responsible for the delivery of high quality medical care provided to the patients of the Family Medicine Clinic which is operated by Klickitat Valley Health (KVH) The Physician serves as a coach/mentor/trainer to staff and mid-level providers and provides guidance in “best practices”, troubleshooting of medical service and operation issues, and establishing best practices in accordance with KVH policy and standards. The Physician demonstrates excellence in customer service during interactions with patients, families and other customers and works collaboratively with colleagues and departments throughout the organization to provide optimal outcomes for patients.  The Physician conducts themselves in a compassionate, professional, ethical and knowledgeable fashion.

Qualifications

Minimum Education, Training & Experience (includes licenses or certifications):

Safety Sensitive per WA SB5123: Yes 

Education / Licensure:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy with an active/current license to practice medicine in Washington State required. 
  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Practice is required.
  • Federal/state DEA registration required.
  • Current BLS, ACLS & PALS certifications required.
  • Current KVH medical staff affiliation/credentialing status required.
  • Basic computer knowledge required.

 

Experience:

  • At least one (1) year recent full time experience providing direct patient care in an outpatient or acute care medical setting.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to):

 

  • Provides clinical health care services within the scope of the physician in her/her specialty.
  • Collaborates with other physicians on patient care when indicated.
  • Arranges and coordinates referrals and consultants.
  • Prescribes and dispenses required medications in appropriate fashion.
  • Uses a variety of teaching methods to meet individual patient needs.  Explains the nature of the diagnosis, the consequences if not treated, and the side effects of any prescribed or recommended treatment.
  • Coordinates appropriate patient education.
  • Promotes wellness and prevention of illness from a family-centered perspective.
  • Shares excess walk-in or on-call patients as necessary and as appropriate. 
  • Follows the clinic/department schedule.
  • Is supportive and professional with all clinic staff.
  • Evaluates staff and mid-level performance regularly, giving feedback, following disciplinary procedure.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Learns and utilizes Electronic Medical Record system to its fullest potential.
  • Documents patient encounters in writing or dictation in a timely fashion, usually within 24 hours.
  • Cooperates with medical insurance carriers as requested in matters related to risk management and malpractice risk reduction.
  • Participates in continuing education programs to maintain legally required hours for MD or DO license and for a certification within his/her specialty board, keeping clear documentation of continuing education hours.
  • Participates in the establishment evaluation and revision of clinic/department and practice policies.
  • Works toward established objectives of the organization.
  • Responsible for oversight of mid-level practitioners
  • Requires compliance with established clinic/department/hospital polices and procedures.
  • Promotes the mission and values of KVH within the community.
  • Contributes to an environment in which superior care and seamless communication for other multi-disciplinary team providers and specialists are present.
  • Allows development of a true partnership in the care of the KVH patients, and through direct accountability, provides excellent service to the patient and other healthcare team members.
