We are pleased to offer a sign-on bonus of up to $500 for both Full-Time and Part-Time positions, based on the following schedule:

  • Full-Time (30-40 hours): $500
  • Part-Time (25-29 hours): $400
  • Part-Time (20-25 hours): $300
  • Less than 20 hours: $150

Position Summary: Plan, implement, provide and supervise safe classroom activities, which promote the emotional, social, intellectual and physical development of the children. Supervise assistant teacher, floater, and substitutes in providing and implementing safe activities, which promote the emotional, social, intellectual and physical development of children. Co-leads collaborate lesson planning, HiMama documentation, children’s assessments and all parent communication creating the optimal learning environment for classroom.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Co-Leads need to coordinate duties and responsibilities with other classroom Co-Leads.
  • Lead/Co-Lead Teacher Responsible for creating and implementing weekly lesson plans on the Brightwheel site, that are developmentally appropriate including secular and Judaic experiences with an emphasis on implementing the JCC Jewish curriculum, Creative Curriculum, Heggerty, and Step Up to Quality Standards in the classrooms. These activities should include experiences which include art, music, movement, math, science and language, promoting the emotional, social, intellectual and physical development of each child.
  • Greet each child and parent warmly and in a friendly manner each morning upon arrival.
  • Partners with co-workers and administration to create a positive classroom and work environment.
  • Maintain a neat, organized classroom, with a learning center focus, responsible for upkeep of all educational equipment and materials.
  • Lead/Co-Lead Teacher - Responsibilities include supervising the assistant/floaters/substitutes teachers that are in your classroom. Providing them with the support and direction needed throughout the day to create a safe environment for the children and classroom.
  • Lead/Co-Lead Teacher - Responsibilities include maintaining and overseeing Brightwheel communication, newsletters, lesson plans, documentation, pictures, assessments, and daily reports to families.
  • Lead/Co-Lead Teacher - Writes and oversee the children's assessments in the classroom; work with parents to promote understanding of growth and development of their child; have a parent conference mid-year as well as an end of year assessment.
  • Lead/Co-Lead Teacher - As supervisor of their classroom and to ensure a well-managed classroom work on building a "team" with the assistant/floater/substitute staff by creating a safe and supportive environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding children and families in the JCC ECLC Program.
  • Supervise all activities to ensure safety of each child at all times, complete incident or illness reports and communicate information to Director immediately.
  • Participate in Jewish learning opportunities as provided by supervisor and other JCC staff. Use the Judaic curriculum as a guideline for Jewish learning in the classroom and in lesson plans.
  • Meet the needs of the children by consistently engaging and meeting each child's individual needs.
  • Participate actively in activities with the children as outlined in ECLC Handbook, including Freeplay, playground, circletime, and specialty classes. "Actively" supervising examples are: Sitting on the floor engaging with them during free play, moving around the area while participating in gross motor play, moving around in the classroom or large motor room are examples of supervising and supporting children based on their needs.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings.
  • Attend week of in-service training prior to the start of the school year and additional evening Teacher Trainings as needed.
  • Attend day and evening Age Group/Curriculum Meetings and All Staff meetings as required by director, JCC H.R. and/or JCC Executive team
  • Fulfill requirements for Step Up to Quality required of an Assistant Teacher role. Create a Professional Development Plan yearly, complete SUTQ trainings, and enroll in 2 hours of Ohio Approved trainings per year.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Knowledge and Education - Minimum Required or Preferred: CDA, AA or BS in Early Childhood Development, Elementary Education, a related field or equivalent relevant experience. Strong knowledge of Jewish customs, culture and religion.
  2. Experience - Minimum Required or Preferred: Previous experience working with young children; two years minimum preferred.
  3. Special skills: Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices with young children. Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to work constructively with children and adults. Professional and positive attitude.
  4. Physical Requirements: Young children are very active. To teach young children effectively and keep them safe, the teacher must be physically able to keep up with children.
    1. Be able to lift up to 25 pounds: Move a child during an emergency; lift/carry child to quiet area during outbursts.
    2. Be able to run: Reach a child quickly / protect a child during an emergency; participate in physical play with children to keep them engaged.
    3. Be able to sit on the floor: Young children play on the floor. Teachers must be able to interact with children on their level. Because young children explore and change activities frequently, teachers must be physically able to get off the floor and sit back down easily.
    4. Stamina: Young children move constantly throughout their day. Teachers must be able to maintain the same level of energy throughout the day.
    5. Activities: Able to participate in outdoor and indoor activities.
