TITLE: TRUCK DRIVER 

CLASSIFICATION: FULL-TIME

HOURLY RATE: $20.00 / HOUR + LOAD PAY + DRIVER ACCESSORIAL INCENTIVES

 

 

JOB OVERVIEW: Work as valued team member; be responsible for the transportation of goods. This job will consist of both local and long-distance hauling and complying with inter-state and intra-state DOT regulations. Exemption from overtime under Federal DOT.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Truck Drivers must have excellent written and oral communication, organizational and customer service skills. Must have a demonstrated work history that reflects flexibility in daily operations and prudent judgment in a fast-paced working environment. Truck Drivers are expected to ensure the smooth operation of all activities associated with the distribution, receipt, and delivery of our products. They must be able to provide guidance and communicate expectations clearly to their dispatcher. Truck Drivers must be able to satisfy all of the requirements mandated by laws that are conducive with their profession, and they must be able to abide by company policies. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate company owned and/or leased tractor trailers of over 4 tons to facilitate shipping and receiving operations.
  • Operate trucks for the delivery, pickup and relocation of various products and materials as assigned.
  • Perform required before-, during-, after-operation “user maintenance” and provide required reports.
  • Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations.
  • Maintain communication with Dispatchers during each delivery and pick up.
  • Maintain all required certifications required by DOT, OSHA, and company safety programs.
  • Maintain and protect the condition of all property entrusted to you.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operation.
  • Record, maintain and submit manifest logs daily without exception of all routes and activities of work shift for timekeeping and payroll recording purposes.
  • Must abide by driving local, long-distance and overnight runs as required by shipping needs. 

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND TRAINING:

  • Valid and in good standing Class A Commercial Drivers’ License required.
  • Two (2) or more years’ experience as a Class A truck driver.
  • Must have knowledge of and comply with DOT rules and regulations at all times.
  • Must be able to maintain DOT Driver Log and company shipping records.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical equations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Must operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner at all times.

PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF THE POSITION:

  • Must be deemed fit for duty by a qualified health care professional.
  • Requires prolonged sitting and driving.
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift 25 LBS overhead.
  • Must be able to work in severe weather conditions; both heat and cold.
  • Requires repeated dropping & hooking of trailers.
  • Occasionally requires pallet jacking, loading, and off-loading.
  • Requires repeated climbing in and out of truck.
  • Requires repeated climbing, bending, stooping, squatting, overhead lifting, pushing, pulling, and grasping. 
  • May be exposed to excessive noise, fuel fumes, and diesel exhaust. 
  • Requires constantly moving throughout the yard, warehouse and /or port  to accomplish tasks.
