We are seeking a skilled Electromechanical Technician to join our team in the Miller area of Gary, IN.  In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing a variety of electrical and mechanical equipment in our manufacturing plant. You must possess the ability to read blueprints, schematics, diagrams or technical orders to determine methods and sequences of assembly of a machine or equipment. This role is also responsible for operation of machinery and electrical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on drives, backup power systems, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and other related systems.

 

This is a full-time position with opportunities for career growth and advancement and offers excellent benefits. 9-hour shifts Monday-Friday. Our current opening is on 2nd shift, 1PM-10PM.  Open positions, including 1st shift are offered internally as they become available. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

Education and/or equivalent experience required:

  • Completion of a recognized program in an accredited university, college, or vocational school specializing in the training for mechanical / electrical engineering or the mechanical / electrical trades.
  • Five (5) years of proven experience working with, maintaining, or installing mechanical / electrical / electronic / hydraulic / pneumatic systems. Experience must include time reading prints, schematics, sketches, etc.

Training Required:

  • Knowledge of the accepted practices, processes, materials, and tools of the maintenance trades.
  • Knowledge of PLC’s, drive systems, electrical systems, electric motors, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, generators, pumps, pressure systems, water systems and other equipment and systems found in manufacturing facilities.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards (including high voltage systems) and safety.
  • Knowledge of the proper use of commonly used maintenance chemicals, such as, solvents, cleaning and metalworking fluids.
  • Ability to maintain records regarding material, equipment, and repairs.
  • Ability to train others and to guide and evaluate the work of other maintenance technicians.
  • Ability to determine work priorities and assign work to others.

Physical requirements 

  • Exposure to loud noise and ability to work in changing environmental conditions, such as hot or cold weather
  • Working in proximity to physical hazards, such as moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, overhead cranes and electrical current
  • Standing/walking up to 9 hours per shift
  • Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, etc.
  • Bend, reach, kneel and lay on back
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodations.
