SUMMARY
The Heavy Truck Driver performs a variety of functions in the Roads and Grounds Department while primary duty is for transporting goods and materials safely from one place to another using heavy or tractor-trailer trucks with capacity of more than 1 ton.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Will drive heavy trucks.
- Will perform a variety of functions in the Roads & Grounds Department including brush removal, tree removal using a variety of equipment.
- Cuts brush and other vegetation and moves slash (wood debris) away from roads, fire trails and remaining trees.
- Will perform repair and maintenance on roadways, parking lots and other such structures.
- May grease, adjust and make emergency repairs to equipment.
- Snow and ice removal.
- HAZMAT/ Used oil removal and transport with oil tanker trailer
- May be required to assist in other sections of the R&G Department
- Employees are required to drive company vehicles on a Federal Installation.
- All other duties as assigned by supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, and/or EXPERIENCE
- Must have a minimum of 3 years’ related experience.
- Must have a valid Class B CDL with no restrictions and air brake endorsements with a minimum of 3 year’s successful experience safely driving straight bodied trucks and/or tractor trailer combinations without accident.
- The ability to obtain and maintain military gate pass access is required.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- High school diploma or GED.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, managers and staff members.
