LEARNING SERVICES LIBRARIAN

 

Bridgewater College is seeking a creative, dynamic, and organized individual to serve as the Learning Services Librarian. The Learning Services Librarian develops, coordinates, and delivers research and learning programs across the curriculum.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Develops, coordinates, and delivers research and information literacy programs across the curriculum.
  • Creates and maintains instructional materials and web pages to facilitate use of library resources.
  • Provides reference and research support virtually and in person including evening and weekend hours as necessary.
  • Collaborates with IT’s Instructional Designer to develop innovative approaches in pedagogical strategies with faculty.
  • Collaborates and supports the Wade Institute for Teaching and Learning and IT's Instructional Design team for professional development programming.
  • Develops and Manages Student Peer Research Consultant program.
  • Manages library services content management platform, Springshare.
  • Troubleshoot problems and provide instruction and assistance in the use of technology, such as copiers, printers, room reservation system, scanners, AV equipment, microform readers, and other equipment.
  • Serves with other librarians as a liaison to academic departments; participates in collection development in reference and assigned subject areas.
  • Engages in regular professional development activities as part of a continuous commitment to increasing understanding and effectiveness in current library, information, and instructional technologies, remaining current in reference, research, and pedagogical techniques in a digital environment.
  • Compiles and prepares statistics and reports as requested.
  • Encourages and maintains collaborative relationship with faculty and staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • ALA-accredited master’s degree in Library or Information Science required.
  • Strong customer service skills required.
  • Skills in supervising subordinate staff, especially 18–21 year-old adults preferred.
  • Experience providing reference service in an academic, public, or corporate library preferred.
  • Experience and/or potential in developing effective library instruction preferred.
  • Experience in creating online guides and/or online tutorials preferred.
  • Experience using the Springshare platform preferred.
  • Experience in conducting library instruction or teaching in an academic environment preferred.

 

Pay is competitive, and salary is commensurate with experience. This full-time position offers a full benefits package, including paid tuition at the College for eligible dependents.
