About the position 

National franchise system, Kiddie Academy, is seeking an in-house General Counsel.  This is an opportunity to work with other executives on our team.  As the General Counsel within our legal department, you’ll have responsibility for a wide range of commercial law matters including contracts, franchising, employment, real estate and general childcare regulations. This position is IN-OFFICE based at our Corporate Office in Abingdon, Maryland.

Qualifications

Why you?

You are an experienced professional with a broad range of business and commercial/franchise legal experience who has a passion for making an impact, is an excellent communicator, takes pride in the quality of your work and is tech savvy. You keep pace with the changing demands of an entrepreneurial business by anticipating problems and offering appropriate and creative solutions. You are able to accurately identify material legal issues and articulate practical guidance as well as effectively assess risks in challenging situations, including when matters are time critical. 

  

Your Skills and Experience: 

  • Knowledge of commercial transactions, franchising, employment law, commercial real estate law and childcare regulations 

  • Proven ability to identify opportunities and take initiative 

  • Process driven but creative and innovative 

  • Detail oriented 

  • Ability to work collaboratively to achieve business objectives 

  • Demonstrated leadership skills 

  • Strong professional verbal and written communication skills including the ability to interact effectively with team members 

  • J.D from an accredited law school  

  • Licensed to practice law in at least one jurisdiction
