POSITION SUMMARY

An Outside Sales Representative, Fluid Power (OSR) is responsible for growing market share and exceeding monthly sales goals through new and existing (assigned) customers in their territory. They are experts in Fluid Power products such as hose, connectors, hydraulics, pneumatics, filtration, lubrication, instrumentation, and engineered systems. 

This position is remote for candidates local to Northwest Indiana. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Exceed monthly sales goal and drive company initiatives within assigned and new customers
  • Execute on our sales management process (SMP)
    • Physically visit/touch every assigned customer minimum monthly
    • Own the relationship with every influencer and decision maker in Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and Purchasing
    • Create, advance, and close opportunities daily
  • Position yourself as the expert in fluid power products, applications, services, and solutions
  • Provides strategic recommendations, pricing, and customized solutions for products and services to meet individual customer needs and win business
  • Prepare product and service quotations and proposals to customers
  • Negotiate terms, and closes transactions
  • Initiates sales calls, with customers in industrial applications of all kinds, and delivers presentations highlighting features and benefits of recommended solutions
  • Research local markets to identify sales opportunities and competitors
  • Builds deep-rooted relationships with the customer base and develops an understanding of customers’ core business objectives and value elements
  • Manages activity, opportunities, and contacts in CRM daily
  • Performs other related duties and progress reporting as assigned

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Minimum 3 years of industrial outside sales experience with a proven track record of exceeding sales goal a must
  • Expertise in hose and connector with proficiency in hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication, and filtration
  • Experience selling Parker Hannifin, Graco, and Enerpac product a plus
  • Proven ability to navigate large, complex industrial and OEM customers, expanding relationships and influence across multiple departments
  • Value based and consultative selling focused
  • Experience reading building blueprints, mechanical drawings, and electrical diagrams is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strength in customer presentations
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and desire to meet customer needs
  • Working knowledge of Excel and Office 365, and CRM required
  • Proven mechanical aptitude with strong attention to detail
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Degree in fluid power, marketing, professional selling, engineering, or business required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical requirements for this position are typical for a mobile employee including constant movement within a wide range of office environments, climbing, standing, reaching, bending, kneeling, stooping, and lifting 50+ pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment for this position includes the constant requirement to operate a motor vehicle and occasional exposure to loud noise and outside temperatures of heat/cold. The environment may occasionally include exposure to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding / high places, and exposure to high heat or chemicals.
