SUMMARY

Recruits and places volunteers in positions that support the delivery of  meal services.  Provides information, support, and guidance to both episodic and full time volunteers.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implements program objectives and performance standards as directed by supervisor/ management to support our mission.
  • Follows budget as set by manager. Provides input into process.
  • Maintains accurate and timely program statistical data to meet reporting requirements.  Enters data and generates reports, including a monthly department report showing volunteer service hours.
  • Ensures accurate and complete volunteer records are maintained.
  • Completes necessary administrative duties (paperwork, etc.) timely and accurately.
  • Recruits, screens, interviews and places volunteers.  Determines appropriate assignments for volunteers based on interests, skill set and departmental needs.
  • Promotes volunteerism through talks, tours and relationships with churches, businesses and academic institutions.
  • Develops and implements a formal volunteer recruitment and training program for meal service volunteers.
  • Assists staff with working with, evaluating and supporting volunteers and community service workers.
  • Maintains professional ties with other service organizations/boards/committees for the benefit of the program.
  • Maintains appropriate level of contact with volunteers to support them in their efforts.
  • In collaboration with appropriate internal personnel, develops and implements volunteer recognition and retention events and activities.
  • Coordinates volunteer performance evaluation at least annually.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client and agency information.
  • Supports, promotes and adheres to Catholic Charities’ vision, mission, values and Code of Ethics.
  • Reflects Catholic Charities’ commitment to treating all persons with dignity and respect.
  • Uses creativity and innovation in program development and service delivery.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client and agency information.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates effectively as a team member through communication, cooperation, information sharing and problem solving.
  • Participates in staff trainings and programs as required.
  • Any other tasks or duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Computer skills and use of basic software programs, including Microsoft Word, excel and databases to enter data, create and generate reports and create communications and presentations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to make presentations in front of groups
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of community resources awareness.
  • Organized, detailed and thorough in record-keeping and documentation requirements.
  • Knowledge of appropriate techniques and practices for the client population.
  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse client base.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from accredited four-year college or university in a related field; and one to two years related Human Services/Marketing experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid CO driver’s license, satisfactory driving record and proof of insurance required.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Salary:  Starting at $20-$23/hr.

Schedule: The Samaritan House is open 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.
