The QA Manager will lead and drive an efficient and robust food safety program. This position is responsible for product safety, quality, legality, regulatory compliance and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in consumer and product safety, product quality, regulatory, and technical excellence
- Manage multiple objectives and assuring the safety and quality of all products that leave manufacturing facility while balancing the needs of production
- Manage the internal auditing program, assessing the performance of the quality system, reporting its effectiveness to the management, and proposing actions for improvement
- Communicate site quality vision/state of quality to plant management
- Enable and maintain a culture of quality awareness and compliance in the plant
- Work with the plant leadership team to ensure all quality programs and systems are implemented
- Maintain robust food safety program (e. g., HACCP, BRC or SQF)
- Ensure compliance/audit readiness review all quality systems and Quality Programs annually
- Track, report, and review the Quality Performance Indicators on a regular basis to drive continuous improvement
- Manage regulatory relationships and inspections
- Ensure adherence to good hygienic practice, pest management programs, cleaning procedures, and clear zoning principles in the factory
- Develop and train plant quality and sanitation team
- Build and document knowledge about the latest methods, trends, and developments in food safety and quality assurance for the pertinent products
- Ownership of customer/consumer complaint investigation and resolution
- Conduct effective root cause analysis and implement corrective action and prevention action
- Ensure that products are produced to specification to meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Work Safety Ensures that all tasks and functions of position are performed in a safe manner at all times and that all procedures and requirements are properly followed to accomplish assigned tasks
Qualifications
- Four-year degree in Food Science, Quality, or other relevant scientific discipline preferred; equivalent experience in lieu of a degree will also be considered
- Five years of relevant job experience
- Must have prior supervisor and manager level experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Mathematical aptitude
