Position: Wastewater Treatment Operator/Environmental Field Technician
Location: Pueblo, CO
Status: Full Time
Travel: < 10% (work is field-based at work site)
Salary Range: $55,000 to $72,500 DOE
Office/Hybrid/Remote: On-site, field-based at the Pueblo Chemical Depot

Who are YOU? 

You are an experienced site-specific wastewater treatment operator, capable of performing remedial system operations and maintenance (O&M), troubleshooting, optimization, along with a variety of monitoring/sampling activities. You can work independently, as well as be part of a team, with excellent documentation skills and attention to detail.

What does your day/week look like? 

  • Ensure that Health and Safety is the top priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes, always acting in a safe manner and controlled manner
  • Operate and maintain water treatment equipment
  • Operate and maintain water quality meters
  • Operate GPS and electronic data collection devices
  • Assure integrity, cleanliness, and security of system buildings/enclosure and equipment
  • Collect groundwater samples using bladder pumps, peristaltic pumps, and/or bailers
  • Accurate completion of field data sheets
  • Ability to follow Sampling and Analysis Plans/Quality Assurance Project Plans
  • Write sampling activity reports

Qualifications

What do you need for this amazing opportunity? 

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • A Colorado Wastewater Treatment Operator License, or ability to obtain within the first 6 months of employment
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification, or ability to complete this within first month of employment (40-hour class and exam paid by company)
  • Experience with environmental sampling (e.g.: soil, groundwater, surface water, e.g.)
  • Must be able to wear respiratory protection, including tight-fitting air-purifying respirators in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.134
  • Mechanically inclined, with experience operating a variety of hand and power tools and able to troubleshoot equipment
  • Ability to complete a baseline medical exam and participate in a Medical Surveillance Program in accordance with the OSHA HAZWOPER standard (29 CFR 1910.120)
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment; flexible and quickly adaptable to changing priorities
  • Authorized to work in the United States, with ability to obtain and maintain state and federal security clearances
  • At least 21 years of age, with a valid driver's license and safe driving record
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., and work in all weather conditions
