Position Overview: Our newly created legal department is looking to build a structured foundation to support several business units across multiple states. As the In-House Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in supporting the General Counsel and legal team in effectively managing high volume, multi-state litigation and pre-litigation matters within the organization. Your primary responsibilities will include maintaining the company’s litigation tracker, facilitating and coordinating document preparation and production and communicating with internal stakeholders and outside counsel, including insurance carriers. Your responsibilities more generally will include fact gathering with relevant internal and external stakeholders, reviewing documentation, coordinating with outside counsel, drafting responses to notices of breach and terminations, and providing case updates and support to the General Counsel and legal team. This position requires exceptional organization skills, meticulous attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and under tight deadlines.  We are looking for candidates who are comfortable operating in an environment that is building a foundation and structure for the company. This is an in-office role located in Plano, Texas with potential to become a hybrid-role after one (1) year. Applicants should be located within the greater DFW area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and track all ongoing litigation matters involving the company across all operational states.
- Maintain meticulous accuracy of records, case status, deadlines, and other developments.
- Independently manage manual case tracking processes and assist in the transition to applicable software platforms.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather necessary information and documentation for litigation purposes, including insurance brokers and executives.
- Participate in the discussion of case strategies and mediation settlements with internal legal team.
- Draft and revise various documents such as correspondence, notices, and other legal responses under the guidance of the General Counsel.
- Provide legal summaries and propose actions and solutions in relation to legal issues that arise.
- Conduct legal research and report findings as assigned by the General Counsel.
- Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and discretion as to departmental and company dealings, information, projects and issues.
- Perform other legal administrative duties such as scheduling and other tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.
