Manufacturing Automation Engineer will write code to control PLC’s, interface with small robots, vision systems, and mechanical hardware. This engineer will work closely with groups cross-functionally to design and develop automation control systems that enable the organization to continue its rapid R&D cycle and product development goals. This position also helps perform project work with a specialization in motion control/robotic systems design and integration.
This is a Safety Sensitive position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop new solutions to manufacturing problems using software, electronic components, computer technology and mechanical knowledge.
- Study the feasibility, cost implications, and performance benefits of new PLC and controls equipment.
- Carry out modeling, simulation, and analysis of complex control and/or mechanical systems using computers.
- Design, build and test factory production lines by introducing automation to improve existing processes.
- Maintain and improve previous manufacturing processes and designs.
- Apply mechanical and/or automated solutions to the transfer of material, components, or finished goods.
- Design and implement advanced automation solutions on existing equipment.
- Create mechanical and electrical design documents for parts, assemblies, or finished systems.
- Reduce labor content and increase the quality of products through the use of manufacturing assembly automation
- Maintain knowledge of safety controls both physical and virtual.
