POSITION SUMMARY
To develop and implement a successful marketing and solicitation strategy to secure new business from all market segments and to maintain existing clientele, ensuring maximum profitability for the property and quality service for our guests.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Direct the solicitation efforts of the sales staff through effective oral and written communication while overseeing rate, date and space commitments for group room sales within the property.
Compiles and/or directs the preparation of reports pertaining to the operation of the Sales, Front Office and Housekeeping Departments.  Supervise the development and implementation of departmental business plans, annual budgets, and monthly forecasts.  Monitor period to date status of sales goals, implement contingency plans and revise reports as necessary.
Develop and conduct persuasive verbal and written sales presentations to prospective clients.  Conduct property site inspections with potential large groups.  Internally promote LM Services marketing programs.  Meet with and entertain clients, requiring some travel.
Coordinate ongoing research of the travel industry to detect market trends and related information for development of new marketing strategies.  Make reasonable recommendations to improve potential from various markets.
Work closely with the Reservations Manager to determine the proper selling and control strategy of room sales for the property.
Organize and/or attend scheduled Sales Department and related meetings.
Train and develop Sales staff, conduct meaningful performance reviews for the Management Team in the Sales office.  Ensure training programs are conducted regularly and LM Services’ standards of performance are met.  Give guidance and counsel staff toward improvement.
Develop rates, group ceilings and deployment strategies through review of competitive data, demand analysis and mix management. Direct all advertising, public relations and promotional activities.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions.
Travel to industry-related tradeshows in various destinations around the world.  Reach up to approximately eight feet with or without the assistance of a step ladder in order to setup and dismantle booth displays and carry a minimum of 25 pounds for transporting material is required.
Participate in key business organizations as recommended by management and Corporate/Regional Director of Sales.
Input and retrieve information utilizing a moderately complex computer system to perform file maintenance, prepare correspondence, forecasts and marketing plans.
Promptly answer the telephone using a pleasant, courteous and clear tone of voice using the English language.  Operate a facsimile machine and photo copier as required.
Visually inspect all areas of the property on a daily basis to insure proper cleanliness, safety and efficiency of the entire operation.  Handles guest relations issues, insure follow up on guest letters and phone calls.
Other duties as assigned by the General Manager and/or the Corporate/Regional Director of Sales.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities to be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
Knowledge of the travel industry, current market trends and economic factors.
Extensive skill in development and delivery of sales presentation.
Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers and staff, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger; Collect accurate information to resolve conflicts.
Ability to stand and move throughout the property and continuously perform essential job functions.
Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to college degree or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. College degree with marketing or hotel major is preferred. Five to seven years in the hotel sales discipline, with a minimum of two years in a leadership role.  

GROOMING
All associates must maintain a neat, clean and well groomed appearance (specific standards available).

OTHER
Upon employment all associates are required to comply with the standards, rules and regulations which may be established by the Company and updated from time to time. Associates who violate property rules or have irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

The Hospitality business functions seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules, weekends, holidays and overtime to reflect the business needs of the property. Associates may also be required to attend group and/or department meetings in addition to the work shift as necessary. In addition, this is a hospitality business and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.
