Job Summary:

Human Resources Assistant (HRA)
Performs clerical and manual tasks to maintain personnel records and assists the Human Resources Director with other duties as needed. Primary day to day tasks include leading recruiting efforts, interviewing, onboarding and offboarding tasks, managing employee information in HRIS tool, and assisting with benefit education and management

Hours: Full Time, 40 hours per week

MVDS supports adults and children in Eagle, Garfield, Lake and Pitkin counties with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Our work provides life span services for these individuals, their parents and family members, guardians, colleagues at work, neighbors, and friends to promote independence, quality of life, and rights protection.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment & Hiring – Lead the full recruitment cycle, including job postings, application processing, background checks, interview coordination, and candidate follow-up.
  • Job & Position Management – Post and manage positions in Paycom, assist managers with job requisitions, and ensure all hiring data is current and accurate.
  • Onboarding & Documentation – Oversee onboarding from hire to start, ensuring timely completion of all internal, tax, and verification documents.
  • Offboarding & Exit Interviews – Conduct exit interviews, manage return of company property, remove system access, and terminate benefits in HRIS.
  • Benefits Coordination – Support insurance and retirement benefit enrollment and manage employee eligibility in collaboration with HR leadership.
  • HRIS & Data Management – Maintain employee records, track certifications and vaccination compliance, assist with system support, and fulfill verification requests.
  • Training Support – Partner with the Training Coordinator to support new hire orientation and ongoing training compliance; obtain First Aid Instructor certification.
  • Retention & Turnover Tracking – Monitor staff turnover and support the development of effective recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Reporting & Administrative Support – Prepare reports for leadership and assist with creating or updating HR-related content and training materials.

We Love to See:

  • BA or BS Degree in Administrative Management, Human Resources, Business, or a related field from an accredited college or university, or 1 or more year relevant experience in Human Resources.
  • 1-2 years of experience in Human Resources preferred, including experience with recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, hiring practices, HRIS tools and benefit management.       

We Require:

  • A criminal and Motor Vehicle record which meets company standards. 
  • A valid Colorado Driver’s license.
  • Verified legal status to work in the United States.
  • Experience with HRIS tool preferred.
  • Exceptional ability to effectively and to appropriately communicate with employees, management, applicants, and external contacts.
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite required, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong computer skills are critical.
  • Confidentiality, professionalism, tact, and integrity are essential for this position.
  • Outgoing and positive individual that can be upheld to high ethical standards.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent walking, sitting, and use of hands; occasional standing, bending, driving, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Requires full vision, hearing, and communication abilities, regular reading, writing, reasoning, and computer use.
  • May involve exposure to verbal or physical aggression; staff receive training to prevent and manage such situations safely.

Education:

BA or BS Degree in Administrative Management, Human Resources, Business, or a related field from an accredited college or university, or 1 or more year relevant experience in Human Resources.

 

Experience:

1-2 years of experience in Human Resources preferred, including experience with recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, hiring practices, HRIS tools and benefit management.
