The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR management in supporting designated geographic regions.  This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas:  benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities

Recruitment and Selection

  • Update job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
  • Develop and place job advertisements
  • Recruits, interviews, tests, and selects potential candidates based on a set of criteria appropriate for the position.  Ensures staffing needs are met in a timely manner.

Benefits Management

  • Assists with organizing and managing open enrollment communications and election process. 

Compensation

  • Updates, monitors and maintains eligible salary adjustments based on performance evaluations.

Clerical and Recordkeeping

  • Develops and maintains a human resources system that meets management information needs (i.e. various reports and labor analyses, etc.) and analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with operations to develop solutions, programs and policies to improve the business.
  • Contracts with outside suppliers to provide employee services, such as temporary employees, search firms, or relocation services as needed.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, by reviewing professional publications, by establishing personal networks, and by participating in professional societies.

Employee Relations

  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees, by scheduling management conferences with employees, by hearing and resolving employee grievances, and by counseling employees and supervisors. Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.

Compliance

  • Coordinates the resolution of specific policy-related and procedural problems and inquiries and consults legal counsel to ensure that policies comply with federal and state law.
  • Maintains the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law or local governing bodies, or other departments in the organization.
  • Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance. Studies legislation to assess industry trends.
  • Administers the company’s drug testing program and coordinates safety audits with a third-party safety company.

New Hire Onboarding

  • Implement new employee in HRIS for initial onboarding.
  • Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals and prepare employees for assignments. 

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Human Resource related field.
  • Three to five years of human resources experience in an autonomous environment.
  • HR Certification preferred-or willingness to obtain one
  • Experience with HR systems, preferably PayCom.
  • Working knowledge of HR functions and best practices
  • Specific knowledge related to labor laws, compensation laws, termination laws, ACA compliance, ADA, safety and all other local, state and federal laws related to human resources.
  • Microsoft Office experience – Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Impeccable written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
