Community Health Alliance is pleased to offer clinical internships for students currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Social Work or Counseling who are in need of completing a clinical internship or fellowship as part of their academic curriculum. This internship provides students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a community-based healthcare environment while working under the supervision of licensed professionals.

This role is designed to meet the clinical hour requirements of accredited academic programs and fulfills the licensure trainee status for the State of Ohio.

Clinical Internship spaces are limited.  These clinical internships are temporary and unpaid.  We offer career opportunities to students.

Experiential learning may include the following, but exact responsibilities will vary based on site location. 

Internship Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct intake assessments, biopsychosocial evaluations, and assist in the development of treatment plans.
  • Provide individual, group, and/or family counseling sessions under supervision.
  • Participate in case conferences, treatment planning, and interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with organizational and legal standards.
  • Provide support services to clients navigating community resources and referrals.
  • Uphold ethical standards, confidentiality, and HIPAA compliance at all times.
  • Engage in ongoing supervision and training sessions.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Social Work (BSW/MSW) or Counseling (MA).
  • In good academic standing and approved to begin a clinical placement.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid Social Work Trainee (SWT) or Counselor Trainee (CT) license issued by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board prior to starting the internship.
  • Demonstrated interest in behavioral health, community health, or integrated care settings.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and ethical boundaries in client interactions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 applications, including Office Suite, Outlook and Teams.
  • Adept at learning and navigating electronic health record systems.
