Verrill is actively seeking an Associate to join our Labor and Employment Practice Group in a Verrill Office in Boston, Massachusetts, or Portland, Maine. Our Labor and Employment attorneys practice on a national stage. In addition to regular appearances in state and federal courts, they often appear before state and federal agencies that create and enforce the frameworks that regulate the employer/employee relationship. Areas of expertise include matters involving wrongful discharge, employment discrimination, workers' compensation, wage and hour laws, employee privacy and the Occupational Safety and Health Act. They are active in labor management relations, union negotiations, representation elections and arbitrations. Advice on issues involving equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, employment contracts, non-competition agreements and public sector employment round out the inclusive list of services provided by the Labor and Employment Practice Group.

 

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of two (2) years of experience in private practice, specializing in labor and employment law. This includes providing advice and counseling, as well as handling litigation. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong research and writing abilities, along with superior verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Occasional travel may be required based on business needs. Admission, or eligibility to obtain admission, to the state bar in the jurisdiction where the candidate will be based is required.
