Position Summary: The material handler receiving position is responsible for the incoming of material, managing inventory, and maintaining plant organization.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:  include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Minimum expectations include but are not limited to:

  • Load/unload trucks.
  • Verify incoming materials.
  • Data entry.
  • Plant organization.
  • Participate month end inventory.
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts in AS/400.
  • Manage materials in multiple locations.
  • Release materials from vendors.
  • Issue purchase orders.
  • Cycle count materials.
  • Takes responsibility of work area to produce a safe and quality food product.  Report all food safety and quality related problems to your manager and to the QA department to initiate immediate action.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:  No.

Qualifications

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications, Etc:

  • Required education high school diploma or GED; or 1 to 3 months’ experience: or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Class A CDL driver’s license.  Lift Truck Certification (walk behind and rider).
  • Requires the ability to print and speak simple sentences.  Ability to read a limited number of two-and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  • Requires the ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with tens and hundreds.
  • Requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or two-step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, and taste or smell.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is frequently exposed to wet, humid, refrigerated, or freezer conditions consistent with working in a food processing facility.  The noise level in the work environment is very loud. The employee is regularly exposed to extreme cold and vibration. Company provides: rubber gloves, metal gloves, cooler coats, sleeve protectors, aprons, bump cap, hair net, beard net, and ear plugs.
