Overview of position:

FEDITC, LLC is seeking to hire a Senior Mechanical Engineer with expertise in fire protection systems to work in the Panama City FL area, with expertise in fire protection systems to serve as an ESPC Project Manager in support of a Department of Defense client. This position provides senior-level technical engineering and project management support for third-party financed energy projects, including Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPCs) and Utility Energy Service Contracts (UESCs). The selected candidate will serve as a subject matter expert in fire protection systems and provide technical oversight throughout the lifecycle of assigned projects.

A United States Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance is required to be considered for this position.

 This is an upcoming opportunity contingent on contract award.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical oversight and project management support for ESPCs/UESCs across all project phases, including Preliminary Assessment (PA), Investment Grade Audit (IGA), construction, and performance.
  • Provide specialized engineering support on fire protection systems when Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) affect—or are affected by—life safety infrastructure.
  • Support includes requirement development, design proposal reviews, integration risk assessments, and code compliance advisement.
  • Participate in design reviews, feasibility studies, and technical assessments to evaluate project scope and risks.
  • Review fire protection system modifications for technical adequacy, building system integration, and code compliance (e.g., NFPA).
  • Track project status, maintain database records, and support DoD and DAF reporting.
  • Collaborate with AFCEC, AFIMSC, and installations to provide technical recommendations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Draft and deliver engineering comments, design review feedback, and performance assessments.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with ESPC and UESC lifecycle processes and DOE Playbooks.
  • Experience with DOE Building Life Cycle Cost (BLCC) software or similar tools.
  • Background in Air Force energy programs or DoD facility policies.

Experience/Skills:

  • 5–10 years of experience in facility design, energy upgrades, or infrastructure retrofits.
  • Direct experience with fire protection systems including suppression, alarms, and integration with other building systems.
  • Experience supporting ESPCs, UESCs, or third-party energy projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and use of tracking/reporting systems.
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and analytical skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (required).
  • Additional certifications in fire protection engineering, NFPA, or energy systems (preferred).

Certifications:

  • Certifications related to fire protection engineering or energy systems (preferred).
  • DOE ESPC Project Facilitator (preferred or willingness to obtain).

Clearance:

  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Active clearance preferred.
  • Must be a United States Citizen and pass a background check.
  • Maintain applicable security clearance(s) at the level required by the client and/or applicable certification(s) as requested by FEDITC and/or required by FEDITC’S Client(s)/Customer(s)/Prime contractor(s).
