Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Makes individual and group presentations to potential clients
  • Interviews potential expert witnesses
  • Meet with clients to review case strategy
  • Prepare pleadings, motions and briefs, and legal research for complex matters in Superior and appellate courts
  • Argue motions in Superior Court and oral arguments in appellate courts
  • Meet with clients expert witnesses on site at impacted properties to investigate impacts and formulate strategy
  • Meet with opposing counsel and with opposing party experts
  • Communicate in person and by telephone, email, etc. with opposing counsel to negotiate numerous issues, including settlement and pre-mediation and pre-trial disclosures
  • Prepare for and attend mediations with client, opposing parties and opposing counsel, negotiate settlement, including concessions in lieu of compensation
  • Prepare and review settlement documents
  • Conduct depositions, including preparation of clients and expert witnesses, and preparation for examination of adverse expert witnesses
  • Propound and respond to written discovery
  • Prepare for jury trials
  • Trial preparation includes review and analysis of all factual and legal issues relating to compensability, valuation, and constitutional matters
  • Selection of witnesses and exhibits
  • Preparation of written outline for examination of witnesses
  • Meet with client and retained expert witnesses to prepare them for direct and cross-examination
  • Preparation of motions in limine and supporting briefs
  • Analysis of potential juror pool and selection of jury
  • Prepare for and attend pretrial conference with judge and opposing counsel
  • Trial, including arguing and defending motions, jury selection, defending witness examinations and cross examining adverse witnesses, including expert witnesses
  • During trial, meet with expert witnesses and clients evening and early morning to finalize elements of testimony
  • Prepare for and make opening and closing arguments to jury
  • Conduct post trial interviews with jurors
