MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

Position Summary: Repairs and maintains machinery, mechanical equipment, and production machines.

• Inspect and repair mechanical and electrical equipment, physical structures, and/or electrical systems for defects or malfunctions.
• Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments, and repair or replace defective parts.
• Execute preventive maintenance programs for all plant equipment and machinery.
• Follow proper documentation pertaining to maintenance and repair of equipment.
• Perform all duties in accordance with written SOPs and guidelines, when applicable.
• Assist in the development, revision and review of equipment, maintenance, or other related procedures.
• Assist and may lead the start-up of new equipment to ensure it meets all mechanical and/or design specifications.
• Interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, panel/building drawings, and equipment/building operating and maintenance manuals.
• Assist with the execution of validation protocols.
• Initiate purchase orders in conjunction with Supervisors.
• Operate Tig, Mig gas, or arc welding equipment and assemble fabricated metal parts.
• Operate industrial truck to move parts or equipment to other work areas.
• Clean, organize and streamline immediate work area to promote efficiency and productivity.
• Perform work in clean rooms and restricted environments using specific procedures, as needed.
• Perform all job duties in a safe manner and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Maintenance Management.

Education/Experience:

• Advanced knowledge and experience of regulatory requirements of ISO and GMP.
• Advanced knowledge of pneumatic, mechanical, and hydraulic fundamentals.
• Advanced skills in the use of power and hand tools.
• Minimum three (3) years related experience with prior technical training in a specialized field and/or work experience in maintenance or related field required.
• Four (4) years in an FDA regulated environment preferred.
• Work independently and continuously make decisions for various quality situations in fabricating and repairing equipment. Substantial initiative and judgment are required to properly perform these job duties.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics required.
• HVAC or contractor certifications or licenses preferred.
• Electrical Certifications or Licenses strongly preferred.
• Ability to be certified to drive forklift and other powered industrial equipment.

Work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts that require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving machines in production facilities, handling of hazardous testing and sanitation chemicals. Protective clothing or gear such as goggles, gloves and shoes may be required.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Work also requires some physical strain such as long periods of standing and walking in production facility and lifting of moderately heavy items such as test equipment kits and product cases. Other physical demands include climbing, crouching, and reaching.
