Position Summary: The Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, responsible for developing and executing human resource strategy in support of the overall mission and strategic direction of the organization. This includes areas of talent management, succession planning, organizational development, employee engagement, compliance, and culture.

The CHRO will lead an effective HR team and work closely with employees at all levels to foster a value-aligned, equitable, and high-performing workplace.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Strategic Leadership

· Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Leadership Team on all HR matters.

· Develop and implement HR strategies that align with Orange Grove’s mission, short-term, and long-term goals.

· Lead change management efforts as needed in organizational growth, restructuring, and cultural initiatives.

· Analyze, trend, and present HR data and initiatives with HR team, and in Board Committee, Workforce Development, Leaders and Coaches, and Director meetings.

Talent Acquisition and Development

· Oversee recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes that attract diverse and mission-aligned talent.

· Develop and manage programs for employee development, performance management, and succession planning.

Culture and Engagement

· Champion a culture that values equity, transparency, accountability, and collaboration.

· Design initiatives to support employee engagement, recognition, and retention.

Compensation and Benefits

· Oversee competitive and equitable compensation systems and benefits programs.

· Ensure compliance with applicable labor laws and organizational policies.

· Conduct regular compensation benchmarking and policy reviews.

Compliance and Risk Management

· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and best practices.

· Manage employee relations issues and internal investigations with integrity and discretion.

· Develop and implement HR policies and procedures.

· Maintain accurate HR records and reports.

· Oversee HR contracts and department budget.

· Serve as the organization’s HIPAA Compliance Officer.

Organizational Development

· Support leadership development and team effectiveness.

· Lead efforts to strengthen internal communications and organizational effectiveness.

· Analyze HR metrics to inform decision-making and identify improvement opportunities in collaboration with the CEO and Leadership Team.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

 

Required

· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

· 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

· Demonstrated success developing and implementing HR strategies that advance organizational culture and mission.

· Deep knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and nonprofit sector HR dynamics.

· Strong interpersonal, coaching, and leadership skills.

· Good overall physical health and personal stamina. A physical examination, including TB skin test or chest x-ray is required prior to employment.

· Compliance with Drug Free Workplace policy.

Preferred

· Master’s degree in HR or related field.

· HR certification (e.g., SPHR, SHRM-SCP).

· Experience working in or with nonprofit or mission-driven organizations.

· Familiarity with HRIS systems and analytics tools.
