Position Overview:
Assists in implementing Individual Service Plans (ISP) for exceptional learners. Maintains accurate and complete records for students served by the Exceptional Education programs at CCS. Works with the Upper School Coordinator and Director of Exceptional Education to help execute support for diverse learners in an inclusion setting. Uses data collection measures created by exceptional education staff to monitor progress.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serves students identified as having an educational disability in a variety of settings.
- Assists with implementing behavior intervention plans to decrease disruptive behavior and increase student independence in the classroom.
- Helps manage the exceptional education database and physical files.
- Enters information into ISP forms and distributes service plans for exceptional education students to necessary CCS staff.
- Collects data from staff for documenting progress.
- Knowledge and competence in a variety of subjects including English, History and Bible
- Ability to work with students in middle/high school math, Pre Algebra through Algebra II
- Maintains confidentiality of identified students and maintains files for students who receive support through the exceptional education department at CCS.
- Assists with providing de-escalation, communication and organizational strategies for students with an autism spectrum disorder.
- Works under licensed exceptional education staff to implement lessons for a variety of academic subjects.
- Works with grades 6- 12 classroom teachers to ensure individualized accommodations are provided.
- Helps with administrative duties as needed.
- Communicates clearly through speaking and writing.
- Is comfortable using technology.
- Identifies and plans materials for a variety of classroom needs.
- Facilitates positive social exchanges for students with disabilities
- Helps to maintain a schedule of weekly job duties and accommodations needed for the support of exceptional education students.
