Job Summary:
As the Head Summer Camp Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in creating a memorable and enriching experience for campers. You will lead a team of counselors, oversee daily operations, and ensure the safety and well-being of all camp participants. Your responsibilities will include planning and implementing activities, fostering a positive and inclusive camp culture, and serving as a mentor to your team.
Responsibilities
Leadership:
- Provide strong leadership to a team of camp counselors, ensuring a cohesive and positive work environment.
- Lead by example, demonstrating enthusiasm, professionalism, and a commitment to the camp's mission.
Team Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise camp counselors, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Conduct regular team meetings to discuss schedules, activities, and address any concerns or challenges.
Program Development:
- Collaborate with the camp director to develop and implement a diverse and engaging program schedule.
- Create age-appropriate activities that promote skill development, teamwork, and personal growth.
Safety and Well-being:
- Maintain a safe and secure camp environment, adhering to all safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Monitor the physical and emotional well-being of campers and staff, intervening when necessary.
Communication:
- Effectively communicate with campers, parents, and staff to ensure everyone is informed about camp activities, policies, and expectations.
- Address and resolve concerns promptly and professionally.
Positive Camp Culture:
- Foster a positive and inclusive camp culture that promotes respect, cooperation, and a sense of community.
- Encourage campers and staff to embrace diversity and celebrate individual achievements.
Problem Solving:
- Proactively identify and address challenges that may arise during the camp season, seeking solutions to ensure a smooth operation.
- Collaborate with the camp leadership team to troubleshoot and make informed decisions.
