JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Classification: Clinical Reviewer

 

This employee is responsible for quality assurance of specified recipient charts with particular emphasis on the approval of clinical Treatment Plans and quarterly/ongoing Treatment Plan Reviews. The Clinical Reviewer will work closely with the MI Residential Director, Clinical Director, Residential QA, and Day Treatment Program Coordinators/Therapists to ensure that standards are being maintained on all charts.

 

Supervised by: MI Residential  Director

Division: Residential Services

Normal Work Hours/Days:   This position requires at least 30 hours of work per week

 

 

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Completing Treatment Plan and Treatment Plan Review approvals and full quarterly Treatment Plan Reviews on assigned cases.
  • Communicating with the Therapists regarding chart updates and corrections.
  • Examine recipient charts, progress notes, and treatment plans to ensure they are accurate and adhere to established standards and guidelines
  • Engage with clinicians, therapists, and other treatment staff to clarify diagnoses, discuss the necessary justification for treatment, and address any documentation discrepancies.
  • Responsible for overseeing the completion of required billing information and ongoing documentation in the clinical charts for recipients seen at the Rehab Day Treatment Program.
  • Perform all duties related to Treatment Plans and Treatment Plan Reviews.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or marriage and family therapy. Licensure in Alabama (LICSW, LPC or LMFT) is REQUIRED.
  • Two years of experience working with seriously emotionally/behaviorally disturbed adults.
  • Valid Alabama driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the agency's automobile insurance carrier for inclusion on the agency policy. Suitable automobile to permit the required travel. Must show and maintain car insurance equal to or in excess of the State of Alabama standards for automobile insurance coverage.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of adults with severe mental illness in group home settings.
  • Knowledge of mental health diagnosis, treatment, and symptoms in adults.
  • Knowledge of the community and available community resources
  • Knowledge of psychotherapy principles and techniques
  • Knowledge of psychotropic medications, including their use and side effects
  • Knowledge of individual assessments and provision of therapy
  • Ability to make clinical decisions/recommendations in client cases
  • Demonstrate both expressive and written communication skills
  • Ability to document activities and maintain records in an electronic medical records system
  • Knowledge of the use of AVATAR (electronic medical record system)  tool is highly desired  
  • Ability to organize and manage one’s own activities with minimum direct supervision
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet the demands of the position
