Immigration Legal Services Intake Specialist

Inspiritus’ Refugee & Immigrant Services team provides services to refugees and immigrants to guide them on a path from surviving to thriving. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, we provide quality services to newcomers in and around Savannah, Nashville, Birmingham, and Atlanta. The Immigration Legal Services Intake Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for individuals seeking immigration legal assistance through Inspiritus. This position is responsible for receiving and screening client inquiries, coordinating appointments, maintaining accurate records, and providing administrative support to the legal team. The Intake Specialist also assists with community outreach to ensure that eligible populations are aware of available services.

Position Details:

  • Full Time, Non-Exempt
  • Reports to Immigration Legal Services Program Manager
  • Located in: Nashville
  • Work Environment: This is a hybrid position requiring at least three days in-office on a weekly basis. 
  • Hourly rate: $18.00 - $19.30/hour

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for client phone calls, emails, and walk-ins regarding immigration services.
  • Conduct intake screenings to determine eligibility for services and schedule client appointments.
  • Provide accurate information about programs, services, and referral options as needed.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and comply with legal and ethical standards.
  • Assist with case management by updating client records and entering data into case management systems.
  • Support legal staff with administrative tasks, including document preparation, copying, scanning, and filing.
  • Coordinate with interpreters, community partners, and service providers to facilitate client services.
  • Participate in outreach activities to educate communities about immigration services and resources.
  • Ensure all client interactions reflect professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and two years general office experience including typing and/or keypunching data into a computer and monitoring data in paper and electronic format or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to be organized, multitask, and work independently. 
  • Comfort working in a support role, especially openness to constructive feedback
  • Quickly adapt to using new software and platforms.
  • Experience working in a culturally diverse environment and providing culturally competent services.

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to talk and hear. Required to stand, walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools and controls, and reach with hands and arms.

Employees frequently lift and or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
