Dan & Jerry’s grows bedding plants, fruit, vegetables, herbs, and flowers annually in MN, SD, IA, and MI. We service retail centers throughout the Midwest and the East Coast.Â
SUMMARY:
The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for assisting the VP of Human Resources in the day-to-day activities of the Human Resources & Payroll. Promote and maintain a positive working environment.Â

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESÂ (comprehensive, but not limited to):
Human ResourcesÂ
- Assist the VP of HR in all areas of HR through collaborative efforts with department managers, supervisors, and employees.Â
- Proactively address employee relations issues while following company procedures and guidelines.
- Maintain the HR/Payroll system to ensure accuracy of reporting & compliance.
- Maintain appropriate paperwork for employee files, payroll, LOA’s, unemployment, etc.
- Assist in communication, interpretation and contributes to the development of company’s policies & procedures, benefits, compensation, performance management ensuring legal compliance of all HR functions.
- Coordinate and plan special employee events and community events.
- Assist with special projects and provide other support to other departments as needed.
Payroll
- Process bi-weekly payroll with the highest degree of accuracy. Ensure proper processing of payroll deductions of taxes, benefits, and other deductions.
- Perform daily and weekly audits of timecards and adjustments.
- Response to basic benefit/payroll inquires in a timely manner.
- Ensure employer contributions and payroll deductions are processed accurately.
- Review file feeds and ensure issues are addressed from HRIS to vendor portals for all benefit enrollment/changes/terminations.
Recruiting
- Develop relationships and build community awareness by maintaining community lists (community centers, colleges, employment agencies, industry associations, etc) for all sites and raise Dan & Jerry’s Greenhouses presence within the community.
- Source applicants by using traditional and non-traditional recruiting methods to attract a high caliber applicant pool.
- Support VP of HR with coordination of H2A program and maintain record keeping.
- Stay current on the company’s organizational structure, personnel policy, and federal and state laws regarding employment practices.
