Summary

The Construction Helper partners with the Construction Crew Leader to complete the necessary tasks and projects for the construction department

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Make the vehicle ready for the day planned by the work assigned, (Load parts according to what is given by the inventory coordinator, ice for cooler, etc.).
  • Assist in loading and unloading of heavy equipment.
  • Assist the Crew Leader in completing the work.
  • Assist the Crew Leader with maintaining required vehicle logs.
  • Observe safety in completing the work orders in compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and tools
  • Perform any other activities that are asked of.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Mechanically inclined and interested.
  • Obtain D water or wastewater license within a year of hire date. Unless not given the time to complete needed course by the manager.
  • Prefer some related utility experience.

Language/Math/Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Computer Skills

  • Some personal computer skills include electronic mail, record keeping, Clock, etc.
 

Physical Requirements

  • Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily product/technical nature.
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials.

Working Environment

  • Outdoors exposed to changing weather conditions (for instance, rain, sun, snow, wind, etc.)
  • Must be available 24hrs a day at times.
  • Loud to Very loud (examples: jack hammer work, front row at rock concert).
