Position Title: Prescriber, Physician Assistant
Location: Colorado Springs, CO (In-person)

Schedule: 40 hours per week, schedule set by supervisor
Job Summary:
This position works as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide clinical services to behavioral health patients in outpatient and/or inpatient settings. Under the supervision of an MD or DO, the PA will assume client care responsibilities inclusive of psychiatric evaluation, professional diagnoses and prescribing and/or administering treatment. Applies medical knowledge and skills to the process of diagnosis, prevention and treatment of illnesses. Provides psychiatric evaluation and diagnostic assessment offering psychotropic treatment options and input to treatment plan. Performs, analyzes and documents findings for mental health and substance abuse assessments and interventions as appropriate for specialty training and population serves. Other duties include consultation regarding diagnosis and treatment to other agency staff or to community partners including emergency room and local MDs, and participation in authorization of medical necessity and other utilization management duties.
Essential Functions: Under the supervision of an MD/DO:
1. Will provide services in outpatient and/or inpatient settings.
2. Manages to medical needs of patients including medication management.
3. Assesses need for and provides clinical interpretation for ongoing evaluation needs for prescribed treatments to include but not limited to: lab tests, genetic testing, radiologic tests, specialty consults and coordination needs and clinical data. Orders, monitors and evaluates these tests and services.
4. Completes medication and health education to include but not limited to informed consent, benefits, risks, side effects, and alternative treatments for medications ordered, health/wellness management, metabolic risk reduction strategies.
5. Performs timely, concurrent, accurate clinical/billing documentation meeting professional standards in compliance with State and Federal regulations. Documentation and billing coding for all services fully support clinical necessity and appropriate coding standards.
6. Care coordination: Professional and timely communication/care coordination with client/families/involved agencies/ PCP/ and other specialty care providers to ensure timely and coordinated treatment planning and evaluation of client progress.
7. Assures timely access to care, demonstrates flexibility in scheduling to fully meet client needs, and meets applicable productivity standards.
For Psychiatric PA’s: In addition to all of the above:
8. Performs psychiatric diagnostic evaluations to determine diagnoses, treatment strategies, and care coordination needs for clients with mental health, substance use, or other psychiatric and medical needs.
9. Performs pharmacologic treatment strategies, orders medications, monitors, and evaluates progress on psychiatric and/or other medications.
10. Provides psychiatric medical treatment planning, coordination and consultation with multidisciplinary team members and external providers and agencies to ensure quality treatment through, but not limited to huddles, staffings, psychiatric consultation, treatment team meetings.
11. Completes involuntary holds: performs professional comprehensive and timely court ordered mental health evaluations for M-1, (27-10), M-9, EC holds and releases to asses appropriate risk/safety management and treatment in least restrictive environment.

This position may require you to work standard hours, as well as flexible hours before and after standard hours, and overtime in excess of 40 hours in a work week.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
· Licensed PA with prescriptive authority in good standing in the state of Colorado.
· Medical PA or Specialty Certification in Child, Adult, or Geriatric Psych.
· Knowledge and competency in the psychiatric assessment and treatment of populations served.
· Knowledge of theoretical and pharmacological issues related to clinical treatment of common psychiatric disorders.
· Experience in Community Mental Health, Recovery Models of Care and Resilience Theory preferred.
· Must have sufficient language skills and be able to communicate both verbally and in writing to patients.
· Must possess basic computers kills and type 25+ w.p.m. for the input and output of patient information using electronic record.
