Beyond Maine’s bustling seaports and crowded resort towns lies an untarnished wilderness full of mountain landscapes. Nestled here, in the 100 Mile Wilderness, sit three off the grid Wilderness Lodges owned and operated by the Appalachian Mountain Club. In between busy seasons servicing guests, the shoulder seasons provide crucial opportunities for updates, projects, and preparation for hosting. What you’ll be doing at AMC
- Monitor the power grid and generator systems to ensure there are no power interruptions
- Conduct daily inspection to ensure facilities are maintained
- Assist with trail work in coordination with Trails Team as needed
- Assist in shoulder season projects as instructed
- Preform housekeeping of all cabins, bathrooms, and communal spaces, including deep clean projects and organization
- Engage in daily communication with Lodging & Hospitality Department Staff for safety and wellness checks
- Assist with groundwork, including but not limited to snow removal, firewood stacking, splitting kindling, and solar array clearing
- Implement energy conservation and environmentally sound practices daily
- Monitor AMC equipment to ensure safe operation including but not limited to: RTVS, snowmobiles, tractor, and kitchen equipment
