Job Summary
 
Dallas Theological is seeking a technically gifted and mission-driven Director of Video Production to lead the technical execution of our video and media projects. The Director will serve as the technical lead across a range of video production efforts, including online course content, promotional materials, podcast production, and fundraising media. This role works closely with a Project Coordinator who handles team and workflow management. The Director of Video Production will focus on technical excellence, equipment maintenance, and creative leadership within a nonprofit theological seminary setting.
 
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Serve as the technical lead on all video-related projects.
  • Oversee and advise the Project Coordinator on production needs, ensuring alignment between creative vision and technical execution.
  • Provide hands-on video editing and post-production using Adobe Creative Suite (especially Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Lightroom).
  • Maintain and troubleshoot all production equipment including cameras, lighting, audio gear, and broadcast equipment.
  • Train team members (editors, assistants, etc.) on best practices and safe operation of equipment
  • Ensure consistency and excellence in cinematography, lighting, and sound quality across all projects.
  • Lead technical planning and operation for live video broadcasts and livestreamed events.
  • Contribute to and improve workflows using project management tools like Asana or equivalent.
  • Oversee the pre-production, production, and post-production of all video productions the Seminary undertakes in coordination with the Project Coordinator
  • Oversee all videography projects for Dallas Seminary, including but not limited to Chapel, Online Ed, Advancement, Global Initiatives, and thetable podcast, etc
  • Teach and train other Media Production employees about departmental workflows, editing, storage, naming, and archiving procedures
  • Create stories in line with DTS branding, communication guidelines and project scope
  • Necessary use of NLE (non-linear editor), motion graphics, color correction, sound
  • Create motion graphics, record, edit, compose, encode, and deliver projects in accordance with the Seminary’s media quality and branding/content standards
  • Oversee photography for DTS Communication projects, DTS Magazine, Employee Success, and other departments as needed
  • Maintain other editor's skill set through teaching and correction
  • Oversee archiving standards in coordination with Associate Director and Executive Director
  • Assist the Executive Director with any additional tasks

Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Media Production, Digital Media, Film, or related field.
  • 5–10 years of experience leading or working on a creative media team.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially:
    • Premiere Pro
    • After Effects
    • Lightroom
  • Strong technical knowledge in cinematography, lenses, lighting, and photography.
  • Experience in live broadcast and livestream production (both planning and execution).
  • Working knowledge of production workflows and pipeline management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello).
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, particularly in fast-paced or live environments.
  • A heart for ministry and a passion for theological education in a digital age.
  • Familiarity with theological education or work experience in a nonprofit, ministry, or academic setting.
  • Experience with instructional design and online course development workflows
Physical Requirements
  • Some weekend or evening work required for live events.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
  • Job can be subject to weather conditions (heat, rain, snow, etc) depending on filming environment
