Description

  • Provides direct supervision of a group of children in a seasonal day camp. Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
  • Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
  • Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.
  • Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Follows all procedures and standards.
  • Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
  • Cultivates positive relationships, conducts parent conferences, and maintains effective communication with parents. Engages parents as volunteers and connects them to the YMCA.
  • Maintains program site and equipment.
  • Maintains required program records.
  • Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Camp Vanasek in Baxter on Whipple Lake
  • Camp Gull on Gull Lake
  • Camp Y at the YMCA

Wage

  • 15-17 years old $13-$15 per hour
  • 18 years and over $15-$17 per hour

Qualifications

  • Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state law.
  • Working towards high School graduate or equivalent; one or more years of college preferred.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of
    hire date.
  • Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred. Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, archery, boating, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc..
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate
    program activities.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships
    with people from different backgrounds.
