Job Title: Hand Crew Labor

Job Summary:
The Laborer supports the operations of their department by performing various manual tasks, loading and unloading materials, and preparing job sites. They use hand tools, operate machinery, and assist crews with other necessary tasks. Responsibilities may include such things as yard clean-up, fueling vehicles and equipment, general vehicle operation, and general office maintenance.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform various manual tasks as directed
- Load and unload materials and equipment
- Keep job site clean from debris
- Set up safety barriers for job sites
- Perform maintenance and repair activities as directed
- Fuel vehicles and equipment
- Clean vehicles and equipment
- Perform various yard work
- Operate site vehicles and equipment
- Perform general maintenance and janitorial duties for the office or shop
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient in written and oral communication skills according to skill requirements
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of introductory algebra and geometry
- Ability to use hand tools required
- Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments
- Excellent time management skills
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least one year of related experience required
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged period of standing, bending, reaching, and working with hands
- Occasional periods of prolonged exposure to loud noises
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Ability to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands as necessary
- Ability to hear and see to position and safety requirement levels
- Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals
Special Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must be able to successfully pass as required a federal, state, or local government's background investigation
- Must have a valid driver’s license
