St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS) is seeking dedicated and compassionate Awake Staff to provide overnight supervision, safety, and stability to children and adolescents in our therapeutic residential program.
As an Awake Staff member, you'll be more than a caregiverāyouāll be a steady presence, a role model, and a vital part of a team working to help young people heal and grow.

SAYS provides trauma-informed residential care and therapeutic services to children and adolescents who have experienced abuse, neglect, or mental health challenges. We strive to create a safe, homelike environment where each child feels valued and supported on their path to healing.
Position Summary:
The Awake Staff position is responsible for supervising children during overnight hours, ensuring their safety and well-being, and supporting a structured, nurturing environment. This is a critical role in maintaining continuity of care and stability for our residents.
Key Responsibilities:

Monitor and supervise youth during late evening and early morning hours, remaining awake for the entirety of the shift.

Perform routine room checks and safety monitoring throughout the night to ensure the well-being of every child.

Provide crisis intervention if needed, and contact appropriate personnel or emergency services when necessary.

Wake children who require scheduled nighttime assistance (e.g., enuretic children).

Maintain accurate documentation of nightly events, behaviors, and any incidents in accordance with agency protocols.

Communicate key observations and updates to house parents, supervisors, or on-call staff.

Support basic housekeeping tasks and maintain cleanliness of common areas, including laundry duties.

Dispense essential items (toiletries, linens, clothing) to children as needed.

Instruct and encourage good personal hygiene and health practices.

Report any facility or grounds maintenance issues to ensure a safe environment.

Attend required quarterly staff meetings, complete 40 hours of in-service training annually, and stay current on all infection control and safety regulations, including Universal Precautions and bloodborne pathogen protocols.

Perform all duties as assigned in support of the children and the mission of SAYS.
