OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Legal Administrative Assistant provides support for SDVLP programs by drafting legal documents such as briefs, complaints, contracts, deposition notices, subpoenas, and motions. The Legal Administrative Assistant will also perform legal research into case law and precedents, handle discovery, organize and manage files, and respond to requests from opposing parties. This position is non-exempt.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Screen applicants to determine eligibility for services and conduct intake of new clients;
- Assist in providing client services;
- Perform ongoing computer data entry of both client and volunteer information for the purpose of conducting conflict checks and generating reports and other materials;
- Maintain client files and create forms and documents;
- Coordinate volunteer schedules;
- Assist in the recruitment and training of volunteers;
- Assist in the scheduling of presentations and trainings;
- Translate/interpret for clients as appropriate;
