Description

The Clinical Informatics Specialist is responsible for optimizing the use of healthcare information technology in clinical settings to improve patient outcomes and enhance the efficiency of healthcare delivery. This role bridges the gap between clinical practice and information technology through data-driven reporting to support the optimization of clinical programs.

  • Assist with the optimization of clinical programs through data-driven insights and performance analysis.
  • Ensure the accurate capture, analysis, and reporting of clinical data, including but not limited to:
    • MiHealth Program reporting
    • Generate/Deactivate MiEMR accounts
    • Monitors and tracks program-specific performance metrics
    • Monitors program requirements and changes, ensures ongoing MiHealth compliance
    • Provides reports for compliance and fidelity for program requirements
    • Monitors best practices, innovations, and works to implement them as needed 
    • WSA 1915 ispa data entry and maintenance
    • Billing/Claims reporting and analysis as needed
    • CAFAS data entry and reporting as needed
    • MichiCANs data reporting
    • Reporting of JJ CMTs and Rate bands
    • Data entry of JJ clients using JAIS and JJ database
    • Monthly and Quarterly JJ Reporting: Incident reporting, IPPS/UPPS, AFS documents, JJ Roster
    • CCBHC reporting as needed
 
  • Provide meaningful data for decision-making and reporting upon request including key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of clinical processes upon request
  • Keep up to date with industry standards and best practices related to clinical informatics and the use of health IT in clinical settings 
 
  • Ensure that clinical programs have the necessary information to be successful at meeting program standards
  • Maintains flexibility in days and hours available for scheduled work, including evenings and weekends. Serve on agency committees and other bodies as assigned
  • Participate in administrative staff meetings, agency committees, and other projects as assigned

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree in Clinical Informatics, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

  • 2-5 years of experience working with clinical systems, including EHRs, clinical decision support, or health IT solutions.
  • Experience working in a clinical setting (e.g., nursing, medicine, allied health) is highly preferred.
  • Prior experience in system implementation, workflow analysis, and user training is a plus.

Certifications & Licensures

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and have access to a private vehicle for day-to-day job performance.
