Community Care College is now seeking applicants for Paralegal Studies Instructor Substitute. The ideal candidate would have experience teaching at the College level and working with or as a paralegal; and a demonstrated commitment in participating in professional growth activities that improve teaching effectiveness and work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body. Must have a minimum bachelor's degree, with 12 hours of Law Courses.
Duties & Responsibilities
▪ Stay on top of current trends in billing/coding with continued research
▪ Interact with students in a professional manner, offering constructive, encouraging, and timely feedback.
▪ Conduct weekly “live” video lectures and/or discussion (using Zoom meetings).
▪ Tutor students as necessary using Blackboard Collaborate or other conferencing tools.
▪ Counsel students regarding their performance in the course (both positive and negative) and aid in retention activities.
▪ Design courses that meet or exceed minimum content standards (to be announced).
▪ Design courses that comply with layout standards (to be announced).
▪ Assist in updating curriculum and department materials.
▪ Create demo and lecture videos.
▪ Encourage complex thinking, participation, and discussion by all students.
▪ Quickly identify and address problems with course content or technology.
▪ Provide timely grade postings and feedback.
▪ Communicate with students in a timely fashion via email, Zoom, text, and phone calls.
▪ Properly document all student contact.
▪ Prepare your course shell with updated information, web links, instructor bio, gradebook settings, etc. at least one week before the scheduled start of classes.
▪ Communicate with students on your roster two days before the scheduled start of class.
▪ Participate actively in course discussions, ensuring that all students are participating and interacting with one another. Use this opportunity to shape discussion, call attention to other approaches, and answer specific questions raised by students.
▪ Attend team meetings when necessary.
▪ Ability to model the CARES philosophy and core values with courage, teamwork, perseverance, and vision.
▪ Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation.
▪ Attend all graduation ceremonies.
Conditions of Employment
▪ Instructors are required to provide their own hardware (PC or Mac Computer), software (including email), and
Internet service.
▪ Maintain 90% or higher on course evaluations.
▪ Maintain 88% or higher on quarterly student satisfaction surveys.
▪ Maintain an 85% retention rate.
▪ Attend at least two meetings monthly to stay connected (Fireside Chat, Team/Department Meetings, Initiatives).
▪ Attend other meetings as required (but no more than five per month will be mandatory).
