Job Summary:

The Thermal Inventory Control & CCP Specialist is responsible for real-time inventory management using the ERP system, handheld scanners, and chemistry analysis.  This role ensures inventory accuracy, traceability, and compliance with food safety regulations. The Specialist will perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions related to inventory discrepancies, conduct daily cycle counts, and support inventory-related initiatives to maintain seamless production operations. 

 

Office Environment: 5% of the work is conducted in an office setting, involving time spent on computer research, project management, and communication with team members and stakeholders. Frequent participation in both in-person and virtual meetings, including project updates, strategy sessions, and presentations to management and stakeholders.

Production Environment: 95% Regular visits to the production areas will involve exposure to machinery, noise, varying temperatures, humidity, and wet conditions.

Schedule: Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed based on operational requirements.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform daily cycle counts in accordance with defined inventory accuracy targets and input results into the ERP system.
  2. Perform CCP chemistries, pH, water activity testing.
  3. Utilize ERP software, scanner guns, and labeling equipment to track, reconcile, and manage inventory in real time.
  4. Investigate inventory discrepancies through root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs).
  5. Monitor production job transactions and shop floor inventory to support manufacturing flow.
  6. Lead and coordinate cycle counting programs and plant physical inventory processes.
  7. Support inventory control initiatives, including FIFO compliance, expired product removal, rework, and obsolete inventory purging.
  8. Ensure compliance with traceability standards, food safety regulations, and internal quality policies.
  9. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace by following safety protocols and 5S standards.
  10. Operate forklifts and pallet jacks to support inventory movement as needed.
  11. Reconcile inventory variances related to work orders or system transactions.
  12. Perform other tasks and cross-functional support duties related to inventory as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience accepted.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in inventory control, warehousing, or manufacturing logistics.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and inventory management tools.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control processes and traceability requirements, especially within food manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance related to food safety and quality standards (e.g., SQF, USDA, HACCP).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced attention to detail and a commitment to inventory accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to become certified.
  • Able to lift up to 75 lbs and stand for extended periods in a cold plant environment.
  • Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

 

Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements:

  1. Visits to production areas will involve exposure to machinery, high noise levels, varying temperatures, humidity, and wet conditions.
  2. Must be comfortable sharing office space with other professionals and performing repetitive, computer-based tasks.
  3. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach, stretch, stoop, and bend for extended periods.
  4. Must be able to communicate through various channels, including phone, email, face-to-face, and videoconferencing.

At Cloverdale Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range.  The base hiring pay range for this role is between $20.00 - $24.00 per hour, and your actual base pay within that range will depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.
