POSITION SUMMARY:

The gymnastics director is responsible for the development, implementation and administration of all gymnastics programming for the branch. This includes administration of employee schedules and events, in-service training, and management of volunteers. In addition, applicant must be strong in coaching skills through USAG. Applicant will assist with family activities such as Healthy Kids Day, Fall Festival, and the annual Giving Tree Project.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provide direct supervision and maintain high safety standards during recreational and instructional gymnastics programs
  2. Prepare and manage the gymnastics department budgets
  3. Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate all gymnastics staff
  4. Maintain knowledge of current trends in gymnastics industry to be able to implement new programs and ideas
  5. Conduct, evaluate, and control in-service training
  6. Maintain up to date records of certifications and safety training on all gymnastics employees
  7. Develop and implementation of Youth and Adult Gymnastics programs
  8. Hold skills necessary to substitute for subordinate employees as required in case of staff shortages
  9. Develop and implement marketing plans to promote the program areas
  10. Maintain adequate records to evaluate control and measure the effectiveness of gymnastics programs to aid in membership retention
  11. Uphold current facility maintenance in all major areas of responsibility
  12. Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service
  13. Assist in the Annual Campaign fundraising program for the YMCA
  14. Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers, and program participants
  15. Willingly perform other duties as assigned

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Y seeks to strengthen communities through daily commitment to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. When you work at the Y, you take an active role in bringing about meaningful, enduring change in people’s lives. The program manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of all departments. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and direction work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

  1. Sound working knowledge/certifications of USAG JO compulsory – optional level coaching techniques.
  2. USAG Gymnastics certification.
  3. Ability to develop and implement sports and gymnastics programs.
  4. Ability to foster positive staff, peers and program participants.
  5. Ability to supervise multiple part-time staff and ensure the overall safety.
  6. CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment.
  7. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines.
