The Senior Process Engineering Manager plays a pivotal role in driving innovation, scaling up new processes, and optimizing existing ones in collaboration with New Product Development. With a dual focus on Gorilla Glue and O’Keeffe’s production lines. This will include cosmetic products (lotions, lip balms, creams) and over-the-counter (OTC) items, this role ensures seamless process development and execution.
Key responsibilities include leading the Process Engineering group and being a technical expert to specify equipment aligned with process designs, designing and installing necessary utilities, and managing projects from concept to implementation. This entails developing process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and comprehensive scope documents with drawings for contractor bidding and execution.
In addition, the Senior Process Engineering Manager partners with internal and external engineering teams to design and implement automation solutions, ensuring efficient control and operation of production processes. This role combines technical expertise with strategic leadership to support the company’s commitment to excellence.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop process engineering masterplan with Engineering leadership to bring projects to the forefront that improve overall efficiency and capability to grow the company.
- Develop a growth strategy for the Process Engineering group – developing less experienced engineers and challenging them to grow and learn new skills.
- Identify, plan, manage, and execute process improvement projects from conception to implementation to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
- Develop comprehensive project scope documentation, including project plans and specifications, and ensure adherence to project timelines, objectives, and overall goals.
- Lead and mentor an existing team of process engineers, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
- Lead cross-functional teams to collaboratively drive process improvements while utilizing resources from contributing departments such as Production, Safety, Maintenance, and Quality.
- Provide ongoing training and support to production personnel on new processes and technologies.
- Design, develop, and implement new processes and equipment to improve manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot process issues, conduct root cause analysis, and prepare, communicate, and implement corrective actions.
- Analyze process data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement and present solutions to senior leadership.
- Ensure compliance to industry standards, safety regulations and environmental guidelines.
- Manage process improvement projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and overall scope.
- Develop standards for process engineering (equipment and process libraries, project organization, cost models, etc…) to organize all the historical project data better.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in process engineering and manufacturing technologies.
