Summary Description:

The Gorilla Glue Company is currently looking for a Quality Engineer. The ideal candidate should have familiarity with Quality Engineering work and have the ability to coordinate multiple projects within a high-paced organization, across multi-functional teams within the organization. This individual will be responsible for continually improving the quality system across all brands by establishing quality control systems and setting product requirement that focuses on making sure that our products (both internal and externally produced) are designed, developed, and made to meet or exceed consumers’ expectations and requirements.

What will your day look like?

  • Partner with a variety of internal and external groups to achieve the best quality results possible while maintaining a balanced approach on cost impact to the business.

  • Rigorously troubleshoot new and existing processes.  Able to effectively communicate quality risks and resolve them individually or with a team.  

  • Able to statistically analyze data for troubleshooting quality problems or for qualifying new equipment / processes.

  • Develop Control plans for external or internal parties for New Product development projects and/or launches of new packaging forms.

  • Develop Quality Control plans that dictate testing protocols for products on receiving inspection and ongoing performance monitoring for OTC’s, cosmetics and adhesive products.  Able to follow general testing strategies in regard to sample sizes and test types, but also able to critically think and add tests that mitigate specific risks to consumer safety, product performance, or general quality.

  • Manage the Supplier Non-Conformance system. 

  • Effectively make judgment calls on project priorities.

  • Superb communication skills with internal and external parties.

  • High level of business acuity to discern and balance consumer safety, quality of product, costs, efficiency, and general product performance.

  • Able to conduct audits of supply chain partners.

  • Authors clear procedures for operator, technician, or engineering tasks.

  • Specs out tools required for inspections or testing.

  • Conducts Gage R&R exercises as needed.

  • Reviews supplier corrective action and critically evaluates for adequacy. 

  • Inputs data into data tracking systems, such as supplier scorecards and publishes as necessary.

  • Takes part in or leads continuous improvement projects.

  • Any other duties as assigned by manager.

Qualifications

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience

  • Five years of experience in a manufacturing environment, in a Quality role

  • Green or Black Belt Six Sigma (or Lean) Certification preferred

  • ASQ CQE preferred

  • Experience in GMP or ISO:9001 quality systems preferred

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Self-motivated

  • Flexibility

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

 

 

Physical Demands:

Subject to extended periods of sitting, standing and walking; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; Work is performed in a manufacturing environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stoop, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, talk, hear, see and use repetitive motions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift and or move up to 50 pounds of material, boxes, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as reading handwritten and or typed material and must have the ability to focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the other staff.

Must be willing to travel up to 30%.  Travel requirements can ebb & flow at different parts of the year, and can peak at certain times, while drying up for a few months at a time.
